Tape leaving the roll
rrrip — then the room again

At 5:52, Mara tears the first clean strip of tape. The sound runs across Room 402 and stops at the empty bookshelf. The moving truck is due at 6:40. Every box is closed except the one in front of her.
She has been making a tiny neighbourhood radio show from this room for four years. The microphones left yesterday. The last broadcast is scheduled for seven, after the keys are handed over. All she has now is her phone recorder and one blank file named ROOM402_FINAL.
Mara presses record. She tears another strip, slower this time. The box does not need it. The room does.
